If you've never had a pre-purchase vehicle inspection before, you might be wondering what the process actually looks like. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you book to the moment you receive your report.
Booking
You contact JAG Auto Inspections by phone, text, email, or through the booking form on our website. You provide the vehicle location, the seller's contact information, and the listing details. We handle everything from there.
Seller Coordination
We contact the seller directly to schedule a convenient inspection time. You don't need to coordinate between us and the seller — we take care of it. This is especially valuable for remote buyers who may be in a different time zone.
The Inspection
Our inspector arrives at the vehicle's location and performs a thorough evaluation — typically 45 to 90 minutes depending on the package selected.
Exterior inspection. A complete exterior walkaround — panel gaps, paint condition, trim alignment, glass, lights, and overall body condition.
Paint thickness analysis. A professional gauge is applied to every panel, identifying any panel that has been repainted and revealing prior collision repair that may not appear on any history report.
Under hood inspection. Fluid levels and condition, leaks, belts and hoses, overall engine bay condition.
Interior inspection. Seats, headliner, dashboard, carpet, all electronics, power windows and locks, sunroof, infotainment, and HVAC. We also assess whether interior wear is consistent with the vehicle's reported mileage.
Diagnostic scan. A professional multi-module scanner reads codes across all vehicle systems — engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, and body control modules.
Test drive. Evaluates transmission behavior, brake feel, steering, suspension, and any noises or behaviors that only reveal themselves under driving conditions.
The Report
Your detailed photo report is delivered the same day. Premium package clients also receive a full POV video walkaround via private link. Armed with a complete professional assessment, you decide — buy with confidence, negotiate based on findings, or walk away knowing you protected yourself.
